Willoughby Ride

Vermont Horse Council will be having a ride for it's members in the Willoughby State Forest again this year on August 26th to August 28th.  Camping is being donated by the Mary Theotokos Retreat Center on RT 5A.  Same field as last year.  Water will be provided for horses via a hose into the field.  If water is easier for you to bring you might consider doing that since hauling it across the field is still something you'll have to do.  No access inside the retreat this year, a port-a-potty will be on site.

All VHC members are welcomed and the fee per person for the weekend is $20.00.  If you are not a member you have a chance to become a member before the ride or at the ride.

Please download and fill out the WSF Entry Form and  Liability/Release form below. For now the trails have been identified, approved, and mapped out for riders to enjoy. Karen Rosemark is lead on this committee, please contact her for more information:  waterdanceacres@yahoo.com.

Also please do NOT call the center, all calls go to host Karen Rosemark 802-626-5085.

This center is located approx. 2 miles south of the Willoughby Lake south beach.  Trailhead to the state forest is approx. 1 mile from the retreat center on RT 5A south bound side.  At the beginning of the driveway to the center is a small blue sign with the name of the retreat; it's a small sign.  The center is on the north bound side of RT5A.

From the north:  Take RT 16 through Barton past Crystal Lake past north end of Willoughby Lake, RIGHT onto RT5A South.  Once you past the south end of the lake appox 2 miles on LEFT look for that small blue sign.

All points south:  RT 91 to exit 24 Sheffield/Burke Rt 122/Rt114 make LEFT onto Rt 122 South at end of exit.  Follow until you reach Lyndonville traffic light 4-way intersection.  Turn LEFT onto RT 5 North at this light. Now you have approx. 20 minutes to drive on RT5north.  There will be a gas station on your LEFT where the road splits RT 5 to the left and Rt 5A to the RIGHT.  Take that RIGHT heading north on RT5A.  Approx 10 minutes on RT 5A you'll want to look for that small blue sign on your RIGHT into the center.

All contact for that day can be made onto Karen's cell phone (let's hope for service) 802-274-1422
